St. Patrick’s Day Banner & Cupcake Toppers

St. Patrick's Day Banner Display

I love making cupcake toppers! They’re so much fun to create and they turn a simple cupcake into a fun and festive treat for any holiday. These cupcake Toppers will make your St. Patrick’s Day Party a hit! I’m also sharing a St. Patrick’s Day banner that you can use to decorate your home, classroom, office or anywhere in between. This banner goes perfectly with the “Feeling Lucky” print I shared last week. Hope you’re all getting excited for St. Patrick’s Day!

Patricia Holland – Printable Quote

I was asked by my friend from the Relief Society Activities Committee in my church to design some quotes for the Relief Society Birthday Dinner next month so they can turn them into magnets. The Committee picked out some awesome quotes, and this is just one of them. I’ll be posting the rest of the quotes in a post in a couple of weeks. For now, enjoy this preview. If you’d like to also turn these into magnets, I’m also including a page with a set of 4 – 3×5 quotes. All you need to do is laminate them and hot glue a magnet on the back!

Personal Progress Organization Printables

Personal Progress Organization Display

I’ve been asked to help out with Personal Progress in the Young Women program of our church. We have a Beehive who is still pretty new to Young Women, and I’ve been trying to come up with ways to help her with completing Personal Progress. Everybody is different, but I’ve finally come up with some ways that I hope will help her, and some of the other Young Women in your ward. I’ve made 3 different Personal Progress Organization Printables that you can print out whenever you need.

YW-Personal-Progress-Long-Term-GoalsThis first printable is for the girls to plan out what Value Experiences and Value Projects they would like to work on throughout the year. The Personal Progress book recommends that the girls “complete at least one experience a month and one project every six months” (Personal Progress p. 9). I added a few more Value Experience spaces in case your girls want to get their personal progress done quickly. It’s a great way for your girls to have a long term goal on what they’d like to accomplish for their Personal Progress over the year and be able to see what they need to be working on each month. The best part, this printable is good every year and any year!

YW-Value-Experience-Goals

This next printable will help your girls plan out the Value Experience they want to work on now. The top line underneath “Value Experience” is for your girls to write down the Value and the Number they are going to be working on. For example, “Faith #1.” When your girls are ready to start a Value Experience, all they need to do is look over the requirements and write down in the designated spaces what they need to do for that Experience. Then they can check off the boxes next to them as they complete each task.

Value-Project-Goals

Last, but not least is the Value Project. Just like the Value Experience Printable, your girls will write down the Value Project they are working on in the top line. Under “Prep,” your girls can write down all the things they need to do before they get started (if they need to). And, in the “Tasks” section, the girls can write out the things they need to do in order to complete their project and plan out how much time they think they’re going to spend under “Expected Amt of Time,” and then record how much time each task took under “Completed Time” to help them keep track of how long their project took.

I’m giving my Beehive a Journal and a Weekly Planner to hopefully get her more excited about Personal Progress. I hope this helps you and your Young Women! Please let me know if you have any questions.

“Be My Valentine” Cards for Boys

IMG_4195

I found out yesterday that my son’s preschool class was going to be passing out Valentine’s Day cards tomorrow. I was super excited and already had the Valentine’s Day cards I wanted to use. These ones…

Valentine's Card DisplayPrintable Valentine’s Day Cards

I had already cut the cards out when I thought to myself, “I can’t have my son pass out girly Valentines.” I already bought the hearts to go with the cards, so I looked on Pinterest to see if they had any Valentine cards that could use the hearts and be for boys. No luck. I loved all the mustache printables I found and was inspired to put mustaches and hearts together to create this cute little gem.

It was so simple and easy to put together (seriously a great last minute project!) I placed a small dot of hot glue onto the card, had my son place a chocolate heart, and we got 30 cards done! I can’t wait for him to pass them out tomorrow.

The Liebster Award

Liebster-Award

I’m thrilled to announce that I have been nominated by the amazing Just Sparkle! for The Liebster Award! It’s a great way for bloggers to connect as each nominee has to nominate 12 other bloggers who have 1000 or less followers on instagram.

I have nominated 11 amazing blogs, once you’re nominated, you answer the questions that are in the blog post below, link back to the blogger who nominated you in the post and on instagram, and pass it along!

I cannot wait to get to know the other bloggers I have nominated and how they got their start!

I am grateful for this nomination! Here is how Short Stop Designs came to be.

How did you come up with your blog name?

When I was first married, I created a personal blog for our teeny tiny family. Because my husband was/is a huge baseball fan, and I’m not a big fan of writing, I wanted people to come and literally have a “short stop.” It seemed appropriate to name my family blog “Megan’s Short Stop.” The name stuck, and I wanted to created another blog to share my designs, so this blog was born! 🙂

Why did you start your blog?

I wanted to practice my passion for graphic design, and needed a place to share it. I’m lucky to be able to be a stay at home mom, and after a long day it with my 2 wild and crazy boys (whom I love dearly of course) it is just the thing I need to keep me sane and has turned into a hobby I enjoy working on.

What do you love most about blogging?

My blog has motivated me to work on being a better graphic designer and has been great to have as my creative outlet. I also have a passion for photography, and blogging has given me the chance to work on developing this “skill” as well.

What’s one goal you wish to accomplish this year?

My first goal is to continue to develop my blog, along with my graphic design!

The second is to meet other talented bloggers and understand this whole blogging world better.

What is your favorite social media site?

Hands down, it’s Instagram. I love that I can be inspired by so many other talented bloggers in one place.

How would you describe your personal style?

My style is me just wanting to be comfy. I am not stylish at all, so as long as my outfit matches and I don’t look like a complete goofball, I call it a good day!

If you could choose one store to shop at for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I am in love with Old Navy! I am a fan of sales and affordable clothes, and that place (to me) has both!

What is one fear you would like to conquer?

Driving in the snow. We will be moving to Alaska later this year, and as a California native, it is something I have been dreading ever since we found out about this big move. Wish me luck!

Avenger Birthday Party Printables

JD had been waiting for his birthday since Christmas was over. That may not be that long of a wait, but for an almost 4 year old that’s a long time… and it felt long for me as well, since he’d ask me every morning if it was his birthday yet. It didn’t help that his brother’s birthday was just 3 days after Christmas, my birthday was 2 weeks later, his cousin’s was a couple days after mine, and one of his good friend’s was 2 days before his. Because of this, I wanted to make sure his birthday was extra special (as it will have to be every year). He loved everything about his party, and he had a blast! It was a lot of work, but totally worth it.

Today, I’m sharing the printables I made for the party, including a couple of the ones that I didn’t have a chance to put together. If you have a little super hero in request of an Avengers Birthday party, they’re going to love these decorations! [For personal use only].
